Wed, 09/01/2010 - 14:35 — Andraste BoudiccaI'm a mother of two boys. My eldest is very interested in the path... I did not see that he drew himself a pentagram on a piece of paper. His friends told him it's satanic. He was so shocked. He came home to ask me. I showed him the difference between the two. I also had to ask him to not freely acknowledge his interest as majority of people will not understand and due to ignorance make his life difficult.... lol... I'm waiting for the school to contact me!!! Ohhhhh golly!
Why can't we have Pagan orientated schools?

There's a difference? Really? Could you show ME?
The only difference is in the INTENTION!
Satanists, or more accurately/generally, children playing at being what they believe is Satanism, use the symbols of all other religions, generally turned upside-down to symbolise their opposition to said religion - but their ignorance is highlighted by the fact that an inverted Pentagram is used to symbolise/indicate second or third-degree initiation in Wicca depending on which source you believe - it's not important which, just important to remember that an inverted Pentagram IS a valid and wholly Pagan symbol.
Most importantly, these children are no more Satanists than what Satanism is a Pagan path (which, for the record, it isn't!) and these children are just pathetic little figures crying for attention, no matter from whence it comes, or why.
In fact, according to the best sources I have been able to find, drawing on officially accredited census figures, there are under 5000 (five thousand) self-identified Satanists WORLD WIDE! They're hardly a problem for anybody at that level, are they? Particularly if you do a little research on what they actually stand for - as opposed to the xtian view of "ANYBODY who isn't a xtian, MUST be a Satanist", and the oft-repeated xtian lies and misinformation about baby-sacrifices and the like. Ignorance truly is bliss for some people... particularly when the ignorance of the masses keeps the pockets of Ray Mac and his ilk filled with money...
When (if) the school does contact you, just remind them that the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa guarantees you and yours the right to freedom of religion. If they have a problem with that, I'm sure there are some VERY experienced lawyers Damon can point you at, who will be able to convince the school of the error of their ways, and the inadvisability of criticising ANY religion whatsoever.
PAGAN FRIENDLY EDUCATION
Wed, 09/01/2010 - 20:32 — MorgauseI believe we need to equip our children with answers to the false accusations which they will undoubtedbly find out there.
When Sol was the age of your eldest, we paid a visit to the school and told them that we are Pagans, gave them pamphlets on Paganism, and our telephone numbers should they ever have any questions to ask us.
It is up to us to create Pagan-friendly schooling environments. Pagan-oriented schools are a possibility in the larger cities but a reality still to realise in the smaller centres.
I am offering myself to assist you in this matter by giving tutorials on Paganism for Kids on Sunday mornings, should any parents in our area be interested. Let the kids have fun, learn and formulate their own opinions and answers to the objections others will level against them.
Please email me @ lunaguardia@absamail.co.za should you be interested. Please note that there will be no charge
