“Remember, that of all the elements that comprise a human being, the most important, the most essential, the one that will sustain, transcend, overcome and vanquish obstacles is - Spirit!” - Buddy Ebsen
Many of us feel uncomfortable revealing to others – and even to ourselves – what lies beneath the surface of our day-to-day consciousness and pain.
We get out of bed and begin where we left off the previous day. Although, deep within us an endless river of spiritual energy flows, and even though we often may feel a subtle longing to (re)connect with it, we are distracted by the mundane or we fear disturbing what we know or understand - or in many cases what we think we know and understand.
As I have recently discovered, it can be unsettling to descend into the more mysterious realms of the spirit. And often it seems, at first, easier to simply ignore its call. At times it may even be easier to simply negate the longings of our spirit, but we should remember that if we do not listen to the voice of our spirit, and if we do not go looking for what lies beneath the surface, our spirit will “come looking for us”.
And then, we may suddenly realise (or remember) that although we may not be able to see it or hold on to it, our spirit is real, eternal and ever-changing.
Every shift in our life comes courtesy of universal spiritual “forces” and even something we may experience as a catastrophe can hand us exactly what we need to awaken to who we really are. It is difficult though when you are in the middle of a painful transition to recognise the experience of inner growth. And when your life seemingly falls apart, it is indeed a lot easier to blame someone or something else, to rail against fate or the gods, or to shut down the messages carried on the winds of change, for it can indeed be difficult to understand why certain lessons have to hurt so much.
But then, everything that happens has meaning, and wisdom can even be found in the shards of our most shattered moments.
Spiritual awareness is not something that you can gain by force. You cannot compel yourself to become more spiritually aware (or as during certain times of "darkness", spiritually unaware) you merely have to be open to what is already within you
Our personal reality is a reflection of our beliefs, and our life experience is an expression of the ideas we have chosen to accept as true. Spiritual awareness is about transcending the darkness of our personal reality and this always begins and ends within.
"Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness." - Chinese Proverb
Thank you, Erebos. That was
Thu, 06/17/2010 - 17:03 — Maitiú mac FaolchúThank you, Erebos. That was not only beautiful, but also very, very true.
I wrote a poem, or a "prosa" about this a few months ago, since i'm still in my own awakening, my cleansing, and I would like to share it with you as a reply. I've used it before in the Pagan Federation International forum as well.
But it's about waking up, spiritually.
"As a low rumbling in the distance, the coming of a tide
a shift in the air, an inclination of change
like a taste that was always known, but never felt
as something stirring, an awareness awakened
Like a smell long forgotten, lingering still
a whisper without a sound, familiar and safe
like a feeling hidden deep within, gasping for air
as eyes start to see, hands begin to reach
Is it sheer madness, or clarity taking form?
living anew, trembling, shaking with fear
a steady eye across the fire, a shoulder to rest upon
like a gentle smile, a feeling of home
As the crow keeps watch, secrets unfold
like questions long unanswered, a breach
as a bolt of ligthning, a sense of calm
like the coming of spring, an ensuring feeling of hope
As it seems to have been written, it all becomes clear
like something predicted, long ago in ancient times
as something known since birth, slowly taking form
like a feeling of release, becoming one with the world"
Cheers and blessed be,
Maitiú
