The South African Pagan Rights Alliance has been advocating the SAPC Melville Mandate for all Pagans in the country.
We hereby request members and affiliates to please assist in this and every year's SAPRA Witchcraft Advocacy Campaign.
Suggestions for this year are:
Writing to your local newspaper about charities supported by Pagans/Groups
Hosting magic tea parties to network local Pagans and to promote Pagan visibility. Such events could be publically advertised over local radio statios, WOMF, newspapers, Face Book, etc.
Promoting positive Pagan opinion in the media.
Please forward all media to info@pagancouncil.co.za or post hard copies to SAPC, Box 14812, Nelspruit 1211.

campaign update
Thu, 02/25/2010 - 09:05 — Damon LeffIn 2008 UNISA Researcher Yaseen Ally contacted SAPRA and asked if we could share information on witchcraft and witch-hunts in S.A. with him for his research. I sent him a copy of 'A Pagan Witches TouchStone'. In June 2009 Yaseen completed a study entitled: 'Witch Hunts in South Africa: AN UNDER-REPRESENTED FACET OF GENDER-BASED
VIOLENCE'
Download the summary findings here:

Yaseen said of 'A Pagan Witches TouchStone', "A Pagan Witches Touchstone is an amazing resource!

The Witchcraft and Human Rights Information Network (WHRIN)
http://www.whrin.org.uk/ has included a link to the 30 day campaign against witch-hunts on their website (left column under Campaigns).
The South African Human Rights Commission contacted me to offer their support for the '30 day advocacy campaign against witch-hunts'. SAHRC will partner with CGE if they can. It seems HRC would like to lead this process (they have more experience, funding and planning). HRC will plan a comprehensive campaign strategy and get back to us. News to follow.
Our petition has not been supported by SA Pagans as I had hoped it would be. Only a hand-full of SA Pagans have signed this petition. Petition currently stands at 405 signatories.
