Report from the Convener
17 January 2008 SAPC Executive Council met with the LHR and THO in Pretoria to discuss common causes. The LHR and THO agreed with the SAPC that the Mpumalanga Proposed Legislature must be halted. The LHR sent letters to the Mpumalanga Legislature requesting such.
8 March 2008 the SAPC was registered with Home Affairs for the purposes of Marriage Officers.
8 May 2008 SAPC first Pagan RMO was appointed by Home Affairs.
23 May 2008 SAPC first amendment to Constitution for purpose of RMO’s.
11 June 2008 Mpumalanga holds the proposed WSB. Letter received from MEC and National Minister by the LHR representing the SAPC.
4 September 2008 SAPC Executive Council met with the LRC in Pretoria. SAPC represented by LHR. LRC stated they will investigate the case against the WSA 1957 on behalf of the SAPC. This was later changed unilaterally by the LRC to the SAPRA. SAPC forthwith leaves this case in the hands of SAPRA.
10 October 2008 SAPC designated by SARS as a public benefit Organisation under section 30 of the Act
Point 5 religion, belief or philosophy
a) The promotion or practice of religion which encompasses acts of worship, witness, teaching and community service based on a belief in a deity.
Marks the first official and legal recognition of Paganism as a religion in Africa. The brief given by the SAPC to SARS incorporates the religion of Witchcraft.
31 October 2008 first legal Pagan Handfasting of the SAPC.
Strategic Plan for 2009:
1 - MRM
The convener of the SAPC is currently negotiating with the CEO of the MRM as an official partner. This will entail Pagans and Pagan Groups of the SAPC involvement in social, religious and community affairs for the moral upliftment of our country. The Convener urges interested parties to start planning how they could be of use in this program. On the religio-political front this will entail representatives of the Council involvement at national events on the Provincial and Municipal levels, such as National Heritage Day, Arbor Day, Youth Day, and so forth. The MRM has representatives from all faiths giving prayers, etc. at these events. The SAPC will need to call on the same of its clergy at these events.
2 - National Religious Forum
A handful of religious leaders are currently sitting on this Forum and periodically called upon to discuss politico-religious issues with the President of the RSA. The Convener of the SAPC is currently negotiation for participation on this Forum.
3 - SAFCEI
Graham Shackelford and Damon Leff have applied for the SAPC membership’s of this ecological NGO. Pagan membership has caused great consternation primarily amongst its charismatic Christian membership, however headway is being made.
RESOLUTIONS OF 2009 AGM
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 19:21 — MorgauseThe AGM was held on 18 June 2008, from 9h00 to 20h00, on the SAPC website.
The Affiliate Members, Chartered Accountant and Committees all submitted their annual reports. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved.
Rev. Amon Angel’isa proposed a moderated live chat forum for the SAPC. No objections were raised. Luke proposed that a page wherein members can post pictures, videos, etc. (as suggested by Phos Erebos) be created. This forum will be linked to the site but not be part of it. It will be strictly moderated and will incorporate a live “chat” function for social purposes.
To become a member please sign up here: http://www.pagancouncil.ning.com/
The SAPC General Council welcomed Rev. Amon Angel’isa and the Sacred Grove as a new Exec Com member. With 25 members they have 1 vote on the Exec Com.
As per the SAPC Constitution, the SAPC has 3 seats available for Independent solitary practitioners. The Chair called for nominations and acceptance of three officials to sign up for these vacancies. Phos Erebos stated that solitaries represent a huge chunk of the SAPC’s membership and that it was therefore very important that they be fully represented on the Committee. Morgause mentioned that despite the Chair’s appeal that no solitaries had come to the fore. She then proceeded to nominate Phos Erebos, who accepted. No objections were raised. The Independent Committee is now constituted by the Convener, the Registrar and Phos Erebos, representing 3 of the 5 possible votes for the solitaries.
On request Damon Leff posted a list of regional coordinators for PFD. He proposed a PFD Community in every region (provided there isn’t already an organizing committee) and that folk contact the national coordinator in their area for a listing of their city and community.
Glenn Miller would like to involve the Pagan Unity Com in PFD planning. Rev. Amon Angel’isa offered her assistance too.
Those interested in participating with others in the planning the PFD events can join the Yahoo groups http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Freedom_Day/ or visit the PFDM website http://www.geocities.com/zapfdm
Luke suggested that Amon Angel’isa post matters pertaining to her book on “Speak Up” forum.
Based on Erebos media report the Chair proposed that
• That there be no single media spokesperson for the SAPC. All SAPC members are Priest/esses in their own right
• That media kits be made available for all council members to utilize pro-actively for media purposes
• The media kits must first be edited and approved by the Council. It will posted for comment and edited accordingly. Once consensus is reached, it will be adopted.
• That Erebos’ media kits be adopted as a matter of urgency
• The Chair proposes that the SAPC facilitate a site for Pagan friendly pictures forum
The strategic planning regarding the MRM, the NRF and SAFCEI will go ahead as planned.
This page will remain open for a period of five days for comment by all SAPC members whereupon the minutes will be formally adopted.

Greetings from Temple of the Midnight Sun
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 17:04 — GinneyA big warm hello from Sunny Natal. Temple of the Midnight Sun has had a busy year. In conjuction with the Celestine Circle we organized Pagan Freedom Day at the Luna Lounge. We turned two last Samhain. Sabbats are increasing in numbers and we normally get 16 - 20 people turning up - which is a huge improvement from the original 3 (who are all still members :) We have also been busy with marriages and getting married. 3 of our couples got married this year. The group has also done quite a few legal handfastings around the area and also one in Clarens in the Free State. I have my very first student who has completed first degree and have 8 new students this year who are studying first degree. So we have had a very fruitful year.We have also been able to support the SPCA in a big way this year - mostly with donations including a huge clean out from Ashburton library for their bookshop. We also got a visit from Luke and Mize which was fab. Basically everything has been very positive for us.
We are indebted to you!
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 17:52 — Luke MartinThank you Ginney for your submission. You have had a very exciting year. Well done! Congratulations. Thank you for assisting all of us who followed in your footsteps. We owe you a debt of gratitude!

SAPC 2009 AGM - The Grove
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 14:41 — AronThe Grove has continued to prosper during the last year. Several of our members who have been overseas have rejoined us, for a short time, though they assure us they will be back permanently soon.
Teaching in the Grove continues, we have currently 2 students and are interviewing more on Thursday. The current students bring our total membership up to 46. Our younger (6 to 8 years old) members have started taking more active roles in our practices.
Sadly, people who are very close to us have taken ill. The Grove works healing to assist them, and we hope they will have full recoveries.
The Grove
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 15:06 — Luke MartinOur thanks to The Grove for their continued support and work in the Pagan community.

SAPC 2009 AGM - Sacred Grove
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 07:36 — Amon AngelisaMerry Meet!
Sacred Grove has been growing on a strong foundation and is celebrating it's first birthday.
We have grown from 10 to 25 members, including 7 students one of which studies online.
Our main focus this year has been on the Sacred Grove homestead, creating practical workshops and celebrating the Sabbats together.
I am writing a book on South African Paganism which I am hoping to have published next year.
I have completed my Correllian Second degree and I'm busy writing my final exam
Two of our members, Rene and Chastin were married last year November
Shaun and Shani are engaged to be handfasted.
Out youngest member Loghan celebrated his first birthday and 3 kittens joined our family a week before Beltaine.
This year marks my Right of Passage into Motherhood and I welcome the change and challenges this new time will bring.
2008 was filled with many personal hurdles for many of our members, however we have supported each other and remained strong on our path.
We are looking forward to Pagan Freedom Day and a new year celebrated with our Pagan family.
Blessed be to all

Online Forum
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 07:51 — Amon AngelisaAfter discussing the following idea with Luke, I hoped to share my thoughts with all of you.
Would it not be possible to have a moderated live chat for SAPC's AGM?
I am sure that we are mature enough to discuss matters of interest without a witch war occurring.
If we had to use Skype or MSN, we would be able to collect minuets of the discussion.
What do you think?

Wed, 02/18/2009 - 15:30 — MorgauseSalvé Amon and Honourable Members of the Council.
I think yours is a splendid idea and I look forward to it becoming a reality in the very near future. Like you, I trust that the Pagan community has matured sufficiently to enjoy the benefits of such a forum and steer clear of "witch wars".

Online Forum
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 13:23 — Luke MartinDear Amon and Damon
For the purpose of the AGM, we need a forum that is public and available to all members at all times.
This format will have to serve that purpose.
However, the idea in general is a good one.
I therefore propose that we set up a page wherein members can post pictures, videos etc (as suggested by Phos Erebos) for general social purposes. This will be linked to the site but not part of it. It will be strictly moderated. It can incorporate a live "chat" function for social purposes.
I call for further suggestions and recommendations or objections.
Silence is taken as acceptance.

No objections, but... Live
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 09:33 — Damon LeffNo objections, but...
Live chat's generally do not show previous conversations to users who join in on conversations after the fact, so there would be no way to review what has already been discussed.
Live chat may also inconvenience SAPC members who are at work and unable to participate in open chat in front of colleagues.
Live Chat
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 09:58 — Amon AngelisaThank you for your comment Damon.
If there was a set time to log into the chat, after working hours, then everyone would be present.
If someone does not have access to the internet I am sure they will have a friend who does.
I would even go so far as to invite everyone to my home who lives nearby who wishes to participate that doesn't have internet so that they can use my connection.
I just think that is is important to stay connected.
What do you think?

time and record
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 11:28 — Damon LeffI would personally prefer an after-hours conference in any format provided a full record of issues discussed remains available for reviewing during the meeting to anyone who may log in a little late or be cut off due to no fault of their own.
Solitaries may not have access to friends with internet access, and some may only have access during office hours.
If we do proceed we need to ensure that a quorum of members will be able to access the discussions.

2009 SAPC AGM – CLAN OF KHEPER TEMPLE REPORT
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 06:04 — Rev. Raene PackeryThe Clan of Kheper Temple had a very eventful 2008. The year started quietly but rapidly sped up as we approached Pagan Freedom Day which was coordinated by Rev. Raene with the help of a couple of Clan members.
Our Temple has also been busy with our regular order of business such as classes, rituals and of course our socials. As in previous years, 2008 saw the ordination of new Clergy, new postulants were dedicated and we welcomed new members into our family. Most rituals were well attended by Temple members. For Yule and Beltane friends and family members were invited to join our gatherings which our otherwise open to members only. Our Yule feast was exceptional with gifts and food for all in attendance, while for Beltane we had a beautiful maypole that was danced and weaved by all in the circle.
The list of temple activities go on, but the last year has been an especially positive year for the Temple within the Correllian Tradition as a whole. Our Temple Head, Rev. Raene was appointed as a Marriage Officer (CU42) and holds the office of Registrar and Executive Officer within the Correllian Nativist Tradition South Africa (CNTSA) which was designated as Religious organization. Rev. Richard has since been issued with a CU number (CU69 – 03/12/2008) and is waiting to take the exam. Rev. Raene was also appointed Chancellors Representative and Senior High Priestess of Africa for the Tradition which means that both Rev. Raene and our Temple play a very active role in the Correllian Tradition both locally and internationally.
2008 saw the Temple establishing formal representation in Gauteng through our distant Shrine, the Clan of Mafdet, which is headed by Rev. Raene and governed by Rev. Richard. Both Clans are doing exceptionally well and continue to grow at a steady pace with Gauteng being our biggest growth area. Our growth is attributed largely to the hard work and continued dedication of our Temple leadership and of course the spirit and energy of our members in general.
Another large part of the temples success is due to the impressive online presence that the temple has, with a dedicated website for each Clan and an online forum where all members can get together and discuss matters pertaining to the Temple and South African paganism in general, which is open to the Pagan community a well. Our Temple also established its own internal newsletter, put together by members, which we hope to distribute Tradition wide in the future.
In the media, our Temple was asked to be available for an interview to illustrate upon the meaning of Yule, which was published in the Weekend Argus, 21 June “Pagans celebrate upon the Sun’s return”. For this interview, a couple of Cape Town members gathered a few of days before Yule to oblige. Rev. Richard was asked by Werner Botes, a journalist from People Magazine to comment on the practice of Wicca in South Africa. This was after the supposedly Satanic killing by a pupil with a samurai sword etc. The article was well received and sparked a lot of debate. Rev. Richard also commented on the follow up article done on a lady who was apparently in a coven of practicing Satanists masquerading as Wiccans. (Editions 46 and 50, 2008, People Magazine)
We had a very successful 2008 filled with growth and blessings. We anticipate 2009 to be just as bright and look forward to our continuing role of contributing positively to Paganism in South Africa.
Brightest Blessings

The Four Hazels (C's)
Co-operation
an opportunity to build a foundation of mutual trust between South African Pagans and between Pagans and other religious groups
Communication
an opportunity to share information of mutual benefit, to promote Paganism in its diversity, and to educate the uninformed
Community
an opportunity to unite all and diverse Pagan covens, clans, groups and non-aligned solitary Pagans in the spirit of community and nation building
Communion
an opportunity to celebrate and honour our shared spirituality and spiritual heritage, as a united Pagan community.
What is Pagan Freedom Day ?
For those of you not yet familiar with PFDM and Pagan Freedom Day, the Pagan Freedom Day initiative was birthed on 11.11.2003 to facilitate an annual national and regional celebration of 10 years of Pagan Religious Freedom in South Africa on Freedom Day 27 April 2004.
In January 2004, this initiative was formerly chartered as the Pagan Freedom Day Movement (PFDM).
- Freedom and Unity through Diversity -
Since its inception, Pagans across the country have willingly embraced the ideal of Pagan Freedom Day, namely to encourage Cooperative Community building amongst Pagans and between Pagans and non-Pagans. It is hoped that by fostering a positive and holistic South African Pagan identity, we can promote understanding and tolerance amongst Pagans and between Pagans and non-Pagan South Africans.
Regional Communities have been formed to facilitate these ideals and to foster both Pagan identity and consolidate cooperative community building. Diverse Pagan individuals and groups have rallied together under the banner of Freedom and Unity in Diversity.

RMO SUBCOMMITTEE ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2009 SAPC AGM:
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 15:11 — MorgauseSeveral SAPC Members contacted the Council regarding RMO status during 2008. Applications were scrutinized by Charles van Bergen, Samantha Perry and Caroline Smith.
Samantha Perry, Caroline Smith and Charles van Bergen contacted and interviewed RMO candidates. Of the original interested members, not all made themselves available for the interview process. Three of the candidates had to await the required 6 months membership before qualifying for the interview process and nomination for RMO status by the SAPC.
Early in 2008 Morgause Fonteléve (CU# 49) was designated as an official RMO for the SAPC.
She solemnized the first Civil Union Marriage, under the auspices of the SAPC, on 31 October 2008 between Athema Whitewolf and Lady Mauve Sunrise, at the Siva-Vishnu Temple in Nelspruit.
Two more couples have approached the SAPC via third parties and the Registrar is awaiting their reply to the proposed pre-marital counseling and planning sessions: a couple from the UK and a local couple referred to her by Damon Leff.
The following candidates were successfully interviewed and allocated a Civil Union Number when the SAPC applied for their designation as RMO’s with Home Affair:
Johan Ferreira – is awaiting to write his RMO exam – CU#65 – 18/10/2008
Johan Broodryk – is awaiting to write his RMO exam – C#62 - 29/09/2008
Tracy Broodryk – is awaiting to write her RMO exam – CU#63 – 29/09/2008
Brigitte Kratz – awaiting CU# number from Home Affairs
Jane Elliott – awaiting CU# number from Home Affairs
Tamaryn Brown – awaiting CU# number from Home Affairs
Strategic Plan for 2009:
Registrar to set up a SAPC Marriages Database of all SAPC Marriages with the assistance of RMO’s. This Database will be copied to the members of the Subcommittee for safekeeping. Updates will be made on a monthly basis.
Individual RMO’s to set up personal Database of Marriages they solemnize.
RMO’s to remain in contact with the SAPC and Registrar and report any changes in personal details, physical address, contact numbers, email address, etc. as well as to Home Affairs.
Members of the Subcommittee are to assist in the resolution of RMO issues, complaints and any eventual disciplinary matters pertaining to RMO’s as well as assist the Convener and Registrar with the Interview Process, pending the availability of time of the candidate and/or members of the Subcommittee.
Resignation New Appointment and New Subcommittee Members
Samantha Perry has tendered her resignation (letter of resignation attached) as head of the Subcommittee, in order that she may pursue her Master’s Degree.
It is with sadness and regret that the Subcommittee bid her farewell and thank her heartedly for her invaluable leadership and collaboration during 2008.
The Registrar has appointed Charles van Bergen her immediate successor as head of the RMO Subcommittee which he will manage and administer with the assistance of Caroline Smith, currently stationed in Belgium, and therefore not available for the Interview Process. Charles may appoint another officially registered member of the SAPC to assist him in the administration of the Subcommittee or request the Executive Committee for nominations for the said post.

IMPORTANT
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 15:56 — ErebosMorgause reported that there is a total of 224 SAPC members.
On line membership = 214
Members without email = 10
Total = 224
Formally Registered & Carded Members = 101
Solitaries = 54
Members Belonging to Groups = 47
Of the total online memberhip 153 members list themselves as solitaries (of the registered and carded members 54 are solitaries).
Solitaries represent a huge chunk of the SAPC's membership. It is very important that they are fully represented on the committee.
Erebos
Aurelius Has Suggested This
Wed, 02/18/2009 - 16:13 — MorgauseAurelius has already made provision for the above. He has called for 3 solitary representatives to come forward to represent the solitaries on the Independents Committee. So far, no solitary has responded.
The independents are represented by the Convener, the Registrar and according to constitutional membership numbers, may have an additional 3 members.
Would you be interested in coming forward?

Wed, 02/18/2009 - 16:47 — ErebosMorgause, I would be happy to represent solitaries.

2009 SAPC AGM -- MEDIA LIAISON
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 17:46 — ErebosINTRODUCTION:
Paganism has received fairly positive media coverage in the past few years but whether the mainstream media has become a “friend” of Paganism remains very much a bone of contention. However, it has also become very clear that avoidance is no longer in Paganism’s best interest, and as Pagans we do need to make our voice heard - and as such contact with the media should be seen as a form of activism.
Pagans can do quite a bit to influence the general public’s view of Paganism by getting out and showing the rest of society that we are normal people who are concerned about the world and the people around us. This is why it is crucial that we, as Pagans and/or Witches, put a positive face on our beliefs.
What we need to guard against when talking to the media is bad information and information presented by any one individual who is deemed to be representative of the Pagan community as a whole. Contact with the media should rather be an attempt to ensure our dignity by removing misconceptions, and not about blowing one’s horn - for this reason I think that it is very important that not one single person be representative of the South African Pagan Council.
WHO SPEAKS FOR THE SAPC?
Paganism is still a long way from being accepted as a “real” or “serious” religion by most non-Pagans. When the media interviews Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, etc members of the clergy, they get asked questions about life: values in our children, community-building, morality and ethics, issues of the day such as euthanasia, abortion, gay marriages, the environment, etc. Yet when it comes to it comes to Paganism - perhaps because Wicca and Paganism are, in part, magico-religions - journalists are always looking for spells and unusual rites, hoping to find something weird.
This is why it is important that the SAPC decide who should be its official voices when it comes to media issues. Perhaps this list should come from the clergy directory listed with the SAPC.
It is not always easy to find people who represent the diversity found within Paganism, and such people should be able to provide assistance, accurate and quotable information. Persons addressing the media should insure that information is always:
• factually correct;
• sensitive and will not cause offence to readers;
• convey a fair and balanced view of religious traditions; and
• carry an authentic voice
SA PAGANS IN THE MEDIA IN 2008:
Last year (2008) seems to have been a rather busy year, and Paganism and Witchcraft did receive a lot of media attention.
However, many of the articles, especially those regarding the African understanding of witches and witchcraft, tend to be rather negative, as were reports linking Paganism/Witchcraft to Satanism by the (new) National Party - which makes it of utmost importance for “contemporary” Pagans and Witches to educate the public at large.
NETWORKING:
It is important to note that all local Pagan/Witchcraft-related internet sites remain at the forefront of publishing news, distributing information and educating the public about Paganism.
An idea worth looking at is the possibility of a collection of photographs on our website to show that Pagans are just people, people who have jobs, families, homes, pets, hobbies, bills, car troubles; birthday parties, who shop for groceries, rent videos, take vacations, etc.
I am aware of the problems related to such a venture, but there may be enough SAPC members who feel “brave” enough to really come out.
NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES WHICH PUBLISHED PAGAN-RELATED NEWS:
Cape Argus; Mail & Guardian; Lowvelder; The Sowetan; The Witness; Sunday Tribune; Witbank News; The Weekender; etc

BACKGROUND TO MEDIA
WHAT IS THE MEDIA?
One of the very things we should realise is that the media
is foremost a business, and every media outlet has one aim: to expand its share of the market. It does this by seeking to grab and hold onto people’s attention. This is why the media concentrates so much on events rather than issues, and especially flashy and colourful events.
And this is where our problem starts for we, like everyone else, would prefer to be taken seriously.
A second problem we face is that media owners are in the business for certain very specific interests, be it political, religious, business, nationalistic, etc. This simply means that there are some outlets we simply have to avoid: there is no point for example in approaching tabloids (the gutter press) if we expect fair and serious reportage.
Newspapers are partisan, and in fact expected to be so by their readers, but in SA the broadcast media is legally obliged to be balanced and fair - although in practice this is not always the case as even public broadcasters are dependant on advertisers for income, and this often means conservatism.
A third problem that we face (yes problem) is the fact that we tend to be rather colourful, fun, outlandish and often even outrageous, television cameras may love us, but it makes it extremely difficult for anyone to take us seriously. Unluckily the mass media tends to see us as entertainment rather than news - and we can thank certain books, television series and movies for that.
News for the most is not something that just happens, it is something that is managed and manipulated, and this may in fact count in our favour. We must just learn to manage it. This means that every action aimed at altering public opinion must have a dedicated media coordinator, whose job is to ensure that our point of view reaches the wider world.
Timing, however, is even more critical. Give journalists enough notice of an initiative, but not so much that they forget about it. Two weeks prior to any event a press release should be drawn up and made available to the media. This must be followed by a reminder two to three days before any event. We must also learn to pick the day we wish something to appear in the press. Sundays (for the Monday edition) is best, as news tends to be rather thin on Sundays.
Journalists speak only one language, and that is their own. If you are going to reach them you have to speak their language too. This means that press releases should mimic the format and style of a news story
News, of course, is meant to be all about novelty, so emphasise what is new about your news.
We should also ensure that whatever we give to the media is concise (in most cases). Media people will read the first four or five paragraphs if you grab their attention with essential data, such as what, when and where the event is taking place. They do not want to read a long polemic about Paganism If you send them a lengthy dissertation instead of a concise news release, it will end up in the dustbin or the email-deleted box. If they want more info, they will contact you and do an interview over the phone or in person. This is the very reason why releases should be brief as you want to entice media into interviewing you about the event.
Email is the best way to contact the media. But, do not keep sending it day after day if you do not get an immediate response! Doing this will make you look unprofessional and get you ignored, or worse – achieve negative publicity.
WHEN IS THE MEDIA INTERESTED IN US?
During the so-called “Witchy times” of the year, such as Halloween, Christmas, Easter, the Solstices - for some reason, reporters who interview Pagans about the winter and summer solstices tend to be more serious; there is less emphasis on magical powers and spells, and more on nature and the passage of the seasons.
FIELDS OF INTEREST FOR MEDIA:
The media is interested in very specific news which they deem newsworthy. These include:
• Satanic ritual abuse scares.
• Religious-based hatred or discrimination towards Pagans.
• The Pagan origins of various holidays, including Easter, Christmas, Halloween and May Day. Also other significant dates in the calendar such as the summer and winter solstices and the equinoxes.
• Local news such as the opening of New Age bookstores and psychic fairs, annual meetings, etc
• Racial and religious tolerance
• Books and their relationship to real-life witches and Pagans.
• Statements by mainstream religious groups regarding what they term the occult.
• Religious unity
• Witchcraft laws
• Witch hunts
• Pagan weddings
• Faith-based initiatives
• Art
• Pagans in the workplace
• Community service
• Green issues
• Health
• Fortune telling
• Feminism
• Pagan traditions
• Magic(k)
• Sex
• Ethics
• Pagan unity
• Arts
WHAT THE SAPC NEEDS TO LOOK AT REGARDING A MEDIA ACTION PLAN:
• As mentioned above, deciding who the spokespersons for the SAPC are;
• We need to “target” the media with very specific news items. Let’s not wait for them, we should bring the news to them.
• Perhaps SAPC members could help to keep an eye on national, regional and local news regarding to Paganism and Witchcraft as it is difficult for any single individual to track such news. Members could then email these articles to the SACP.
• Creating a media-kit regarding the South African Pagan Council;
• I have compiled a kit for SAPC spokespersons filled with tips on how to write articles, press releases, letters to the editor, etc.
• I am also busy writing a media kit which gives the basics of Paganism, Wicca, Witchcraft, Heathenism, terminology, etc. Contributions from SAPC members would ne welcomed.
These kits will be mailed to the SACP Convener within the next two weeks, and if up to standard could be placed on the SACP site.

Would I possibly be able liaise with you concerning the book I am writing. I would love to have your input.
The idea behind the book is to have as many Pagans contribute their personal philosophies as well as answer simple questions such as how they discovered Paganism and why they chose this path.
I would like it be aimed mostly to non-Pagans to create awareness.
Please let me know if the SAPC and yourself is interested in joining my book project.
